For the final round in New York, the Maazel/Vilar Conductors' Competition has invited candidates from the six regional rounds held over the last year in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Beginning Monday, September 23, at Carnegie Hall, the finalists will rehearse the Orchestra of St. Luke's before a jury chaired by Lorin Maazel, culminating in two concerts at the end of the week. The public sessions of the Competition will take place in two stages.
